Missouri Lakes Numeric Nutrient Criteria: Ozarks Water Watch Article Notes U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Approval

New standards have been put in place to help improve the water quality in Missouri’s lakes. The Clean Water Act requires states to establish water quality standards that will be protective of the intended uses of their water resources. These intended uses range from drinking water to recreation such as boating and fishing. These new standards, established by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources are a great first step towards maintaining and improving the water quality of Missouri lakes.
