Plan Ahead for the 104(g) National Competitive Grants Program

Plan Ahead for the 104(g) National Competitive Grants Program

The AWRC expects to see the request for proposals for the 104(g) National Competitive Grants Programs in the coming weeks. The window to apply is usually tight, so start planning now!

We are not expecting any big changes to the program in FY2024. Awards last year were up to $279,000 – $310,000 over three years. Investigators at any Arkansas institution of higher learning may apply.

Keep in mind:

  • Investigators need to notify AWRC Director Brian Haggard (haggard@uark.edu) of intent to apply
    as soon as possible.
  • Applications are submitted through the AWRC, the state’s Water Resources Research Institute.
  • The AWRC must receive complete proposal packages two weeks prior to the RFP deadline to
ensure enough time for our grant office to submit the proposal.
  • USGS collaboration is highly encouraged, but USGS scientists cannot receive 104(g) funds.
  • The program requires a 1:1 match of the federal request with non-federal dollars.

Check out this informational webinar on April 23, 10:00 a.m. CDT. Join the webinar via Microsoft Teams here.

The webinar will cover the full proposal process and funding priorities and include Q&A. Researchers will have the opportunity to identify potential collaborators in topic-specific breakouts.
