Fact Sheet Available for Livestock Water Quality

Fact Sheet Available for Livestock Water Quality

The Arkansas Water Resources Center (AWRC) has published its third fact sheet – this one is on collecting your water sample and interpreting the results for the livestock analytical package offered by the AWRC Water Quality Lab.

You probably know that good water quality is crucial for livestock health and productivity – but, how is “good water quality” defined? Do different types of livestock need different water quality?

The livestock fact sheet answers these questions. The fact sheet describes the water quality parameters that are important for livestock consumption, and how much of these constituents should be in the water. The livestock fact sheet includes specific information for beef cattle, dairy cattle and swine.

You can compare your water sample results provided by the Lab with the information in the fact sheet.

To view the Livestock fact sheet, visit the AWRC website. For more information, you can contact your extension specialist about your analytical report and any results that may be of concern.

The Lab offers several analytical packages that include parameters important for other specific uses such as fish production or environmental sampling. Stay tuned for upcoming fact sheets for these other packages.

Visit the Lab webpage to view the water sample submission form for a full list of parameters and packages that the Lab offers.
