AWRC 2026 Water Fellows Applications Open
The Arkansas Water Resources Center (AWRC) is now accepting applications for the summer 2026 Water Fellows cohort.
Following the continued success of the Water Fellows program, the AWRC anticipates strong interest and encourages interested students to apply soon. The deadline to apply for the upcoming program is Monday, February 16.
The program is open to undergraduate students from any higher education institution, especially in Arkansas. Depending on interest, students may be able to complete their internship with a faculty member at their home institution in Arkansas.
Students can request a preferred faculty mentor, but don’t need a faculty connection to apply. The AWRC can assist interested students in identifying faculty whose research aligns with their interests. Faculty with planned research projects for Summer 2026 may also initiate the process.
Selected Fellows will be announced in spring 2026 and will undertake water-related projects that address the state’s emerging research, education, or communication needs. All projects must contribute to meaningful insights into the state’s water resources, particularly in areas such as water quality, conservation, and resource management.
A key component of the program is the requirement for Fellows to complete a project, which they will present as a poster at the 2026 Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Conference, July 28-30, co-hosted by the AWRC. This presentation will provide a platform for students to share their findings with peers, faculty, and industry professionals, fostering discussion and collaboration within Arkansas’s water resources community.
This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on research experience, develop professional skills, and contribute to important water resource initiatives in Arkansas. We strongly encourage qualified students to apply and join this impactful program.
Students and faculty interested in participating in the program can contact Erin Grantz, AWRC Program Manager, for more information or to apply at egrantz@uark.edu or 479-575-7192.
